Gentle Giant Ltd is a Californian Company dedicated to the production of sculptures and digital models with a production ranging from movies (Harry Potter, The Hobbit, The Walking Dead, Honey Trap, and especially Star Wars, where it collaborated directly with the creation of the second episode of the saga) to Comics. In 2012 the Company launched a series of very original resins (Statues with Vehicles) where the character is actually portrayed "on board" a vehicle and was focused on Marvel heroes: Deadpool, Hawkeye, Ghost Rider and Captain America. The piece devoted to Johnny Blaze is inspired by the "Road to Damnation" graphic novel and is characterized by a very original style and a great attention paid to details. The character comfortably seats on his bike with a look of a true biker and a slim, elegant physique; the left arm softly lies on leg, while the right one rests on the handlebars with a great naturalness. The piece was released in 2013, with an edition size limited to only 250 samples. Ghost Riders exhibits a total-black suit: the bust is fully wrapped by a lot of overlapping belts, while the jacket is embellished by two crowns of metal spikes on shoulders, a semi-rigid and raised collar and a long belt rolled up on the right forearm. The tight pants point out the shape of the long legs and are inserted in two high boots, equipped with small metallic buttons, belts and buckles at calf level. The bike shows a sort of essential, stylized look and is marked out by two captivating spokeless wheel, two huge mufflers pointing upward and located on the right side, a tapered tank and two long pipes connecting the front wheel to the large handlebars. The tubolar structure of the bike exhibits a very dark purple color with a slight iridescent tone, but the overall monochromatism is broken up by the bright orange flames scattered on both wheels, on the bike's frontal light and, above all, on head and neck of the character. Note the excellent finishing touches and the top quality of the sculpt in the folds of jacket on arms, the design of the rubber sole of the boots and the tires' tread, the many details of the uncovered bike engine or the perfect shape of the controls on the handlebars and the exhaust pipes. The skull-face is sculpted well, with very rawboned traits, large and deep black cavities at eyes and nose, extremely protruding cheekbones and a flame rising up like a tuft of hair. The base has the same elliptical shape of the other statues of the series, where the usual mirror surface is replaced by a rugged terrain simulating a lava soil. The base is equipped with a inner light, which is unable to illuminate the figure, but lets you to turn the soil into a realistic magma, directly coming from Hell! In my opinion, this statue is really a top-quality collectible, characterized by a great appeal and a unique style: an unmissable piece for all Marvel fans.
